We stayed here on a trip through and the Grand was absolutely beautiful for its original architecture! These beautiful buildings are so important to keep for history and culture. There was some wear in the carpets/curtains/tapestry but with an old building it kind of adds to the charm. Each of the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and spacious, though the one bummer about our room was that the only mirror was the one above the bathroom sink, so with multiple people we had a hard time getting ready. The location was fantastic, we were close to restaurants , bars and shops. We opted out of the restaurant but were told the halibut was great. Definitely worth the stay to feel some history within the walls!
It's always feels very special to stay at the Geiser. It's such a beautiful historic building - the bar and dining room are especially unique and beautiful, as are many of the rooms. And there are some really nice touches - like a collection of movies (DVDs) and board games that are available at no extra charge.
Ate here, didn't sleep. Food was above average for the area but not stellar. Green beans were too firm and the prime rib bland. The ribeye and filet were tender and tasted great. Buttermilk chicken breast was good. Desert was the highlight of the meal. For $316 with the tip I would have thought we would have been blown away. Sadly it was just above average. There's two places in town that serve better tasting steak at half the cost. Still it was fun and placed in a grand refined historic hotel that felt fancy. The staff were friendly and service paced out well. I would say it's worth it to eat here once, just for the nostalgia. Our regular nights out still remain about three blocks north on Main Street though as they have a much more refined flavor profile for their food.
This place could be in American Horror Story for all the wrong reasons. The building is unique but it hasn't been maintained: the drapes are sun bleached, the coil mattresses are old and sunken and if I were to take a guess they're probably originals to the building, the shower didn't drain correctly, everything was dirty, etc. For close to 2X the cost of all other hotels in the area you would expect complimentary bottled water in the room at minimum, considering the quality mentioned - I figured the staff forgot to restock but when I asked they tried to charge me $4 for a bottle. This last bit tells me the owner has no sense or a modicum of decency. The staff were horrible as well. The guy at the front desk followed me and my daughter around a 20'x20' gift room as if we were going to steal something...it was very weird and interoperate. From reading other Geiser responses/excuses they will probably have many reasons as to why all the above is normal.
Excellent experience! The staff was very friendly upon arrival and the building itself is incredible. I travel quite a bit and can say easily that this is one of the most comfortable hotels to stay in. The rooms are kept clean and the beds are more than easy to fall asleep in. The bar downstairs has great service and the food in the dining room is great. I will definitely be returning!
This hotel is always a treat! The rooms are gorgeous and a walk back in time. The lace on the windows, the sitting room, the details!!! I love the window over the door! Walking out of the room is a gorgeous stain glass overhead, and I can look over the balcony to the well appointed dining room below. No wonder I make it a point to stay here as often as I can!!
Edit responding to previous reply from management/owners: Your staff did NOT greet us with a warm welcome, and it's very disappointing you feel the need to lie about this instead of apologizing and having a short conversation with staff …
Amazing hotel with beautiful renovation but the food was even more exceptional. Dinner, cocktails were delicious but the croissants were over the top good. The question is not if we will go back, but how many times we will go back. We are already planning our next visit.
